Day 07 Agra (Breakfast)

Agra is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World- The Taj Mahal. The architectural splendor of the mausoleums, the Palaces and the fort is a vivid reminder of the opulence of the legendary Mughal Empire of which Agra was the Capital in the 16th and 17th Century. Its political center ended with the transfer of the Capital by Shah Jahan in 1634 to Delhi. Its architectural wealth has secured its place on the International Map.

The 16th Century Agra fort is home to many exquisite buildings: Diwan-I-Am (Hall of public audience), Diwan-I-Khas (Hall of private audience), The Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque), Anguri Bagh (Wine yard), and The Musamman Burj (Jasmine Tower) where Shah Jahan died as a prisoner by his own son. Also visit the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of mirrors), After you visit the fort, you will be taken to visit the Magnificent monument of Love the Taj Mahal. It was erected by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife Queen Mumtaz Mahal. It took 20,000 workers and took 22years to complete it. It is a dream in white marble in perfect proportion to the beautiful garden of fountains. It has a majestic entrance and a forecourt.

The main structure is crowded with a cupola and has minarets on all four sides. Deep underneath the main structure lie the cenotaphs of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. The Shrine surrounding them is beautifully decorated with precious stones.
